Omaha, NE – Nebraska Monarchs is excited to host our 4th Annual native plant giveaway event at South High School on May 6, 2023, from 3-5pm. The event is open to the public and aims to promote the conservation of native plants in the region.
Native plants are a vital component of local ecosystems and play an essential role in providing habitat for pollinators like monarch butterflies. By planting native species in our gardens and landscapes, we can help support these important creatures and preserve the natural beauty of our state.
At the event, Nebraska Monarchs will be giving away a variety of native plants, including milkweed, wildflowers, and grasses. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about monarch butterfly conservation efforts and how they can get involved in helping protect pollinators in their own garden.
"We're thrilled to be hosting this event and to be able to provide over 7,000 beneficial plants to members of our community," said Bob Gittins, Board President of Nebraska Monarchs. "We hope that by promoting the use of native plants, we can help foster a greater appreciation for our local environment and inspire people to take action to protect it in their very own backyard."
The native plant giveaway event will take place at Omaha South High School (4519 South 24th Street) on May 6, 2023, from 3-5pm. Availability is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early to ensure you can take advantage of this opportunity.
